HAMANGIA FOUNDATION
The Hamangia Foundation is named after “The Thinker of Hamangia”, a small sculpture, belonging to the ceramic culture of the Neolithic (5000-4600 BC) discovered on the bank of the Danube river in Romania.
The Thinker of Hamangia's anonymous artist has created a work of art totally different from the utilitarian objects and the religious figures of the Neolithic. For the first time, with The Thinker of Hamangia, the aesthetics takes prevalence.
The Hamangia Foundation was established in 2016 to stimulate and encourage the creation of ceramic sculpture bearing on the greatness and uniqueness of this old minuscule work.
